This is a 6-day tour which takes visitors to the northeastern coastal region of Tanzania, to the idyllic Usambara Mountains.  The tour includes a 2-day visit to the virgin Amani Nature Reserve then continues eastward to explore the hot caves of Amboni and finally an extended exploration of the Pangani coast, a historical site serving as a reminder of the strong Arabic, and more recent German and British colonial period in East Africa. Travelers will enjoy and experience nature, culture, and history of Tanzania’s Tanga region and relax on sandy beaches.

Day 1: Arusha/Moshi – Amani Nature Reserve:

In the morning you will be picked up from your hotel in Arusha or Moshi town and we will drive to Amani Nature Reserve in the East Usambara Mountains. You will arrive in time for lunch. After lunch, enjoy a guided hike through the dense virgin rainforest and experience the rich and diverse flora and fauna of this ecosystem which is considered a biodiversity hotspot with numerous plant and animal species that can only be found here. During the night, there is an option of a guided hike to discover treefrogs and chameleons.

Day 2: Amani Nature Reserve:

After breakfast, you continue your exploration of the Amani tropical rainforest using well-established routes. During the walk, you can look for exotic birds, butterflies, blue monkeys and more. You will also visit the Amani Botanical Gardens, the largest and one of the oldest Botanical Gardens in Africa (established in 1902), and explore tea farms.

Day 3: Amani-Amboni Caves – Pangani Coast:

After breakfast, we will depart from Amani and enjoy a trip to explore the hot caves of Amboni, close to the city of Tanga on the Indian Ocean coast. Accompanied by an experienced guide you will learn about the stalactite and stalagmite formation of the caves and much more. After touring the caves have lunch in Tanga, followed by a drive down the historical Pangani Coast. Relax at your leisure in the Coastal Beach resort.

Day 4: Pangani Coast:

After breakfast, start your day trip to explore the long history and diverse cultures of the coastal town of Pangani at the mouth of the Pangani River. This is a place where influences from colonial times under Arabic, Asian, German and British rule are still visible and where Swahili, Arab and Colonial traditions and Modern hospitality blend together. A river cruise through the vast coconut plantations along the Pangani River can be arranged. Enjoy the clean sandy beaches with green turtle breeding grounds, historic sites, and coral reefs.

Day 5: Rest & Relax:

This is a day of Rest and Relax at your leisure in the Coastal Resort on the white sand beaches or activities like snorkeling, scuba diving or fishing with local fishermen.

Options; Leisure Breakfast, followed by a turn drive back to Arusha, or leave Pangani for Dar es Salaam/ Kilimanjaro to catch your flight back home.
